Research Internship (Technology Intelligence) - Paris, France / Remote

Description

L'Atelier BNP Paribas is a foresight subsidiary of BNP Paribas Group that investigates and identifies new and emerging technology-related market opportunities and challenges through research, analysis, and exploratory fiction. Our primary focus is on research and analysis within virtual and digital domains.

We are looking for a Technology Research Intern (paid) to join us part- or full-time for a minimum of 6 months. He/she will support our Technology Intelligence team with quantitative and qualitative research related to emerging technology; data collection, cleaning, processing and analysis; fact-checking, and other research needs. This intelligence will enable our senior analysts to select high-potential domains for further investigation to anticipate new needs and opportunities, contextualise their impact, and deliver insight and foresight. This is an exceptionally busy time for our team, so you will provide a much-appreciated extra pair of hands.

Throughout the internship, you will develop an understanding of foresight methodologies, and emerging technology development and commercialisation cycles, as well as participate in the development of proprietary IP and data tools. Typical assignments may include “deep-dives” into specific technologies or technological trends; building datasets; drafting presentations or research memos.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Extract and synthesise ongoing research, and monitor relevant trends and news in technology research, development, funding and commercialisation
  • Support our senior analysts and researchers in modelling scenarios and in developing new foresight tools and methodologies
  • Track, manage, update and analyse L’Atelier’s existing databases
  • Support our team and/or external partners to validate model(s) and occasionally build/prototype model(s) or internal data intelligence tools
  • Gather, process and analyse data from external databases
  • Conduct interviews and surveys with relevant actors
  • Prepare internal documentation and fact-checking to support the team’s ongoing projects, content pipeline and events

What You Should Have:

  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research. Experience in data collection and processing is strongly preferred
  • Understanding of and a demonstrable interest in virtual domains and emerging technology
  • Attention to detail and entrepreneurial approach to identifying sources of information
  • Fluency in English and ideally French. Additional language skills are a plus
  • Ideally, 1 year of experience or a completed internship in a relevant organisation
  • Intellectually curious, independent and team-oriented
  • Appropriate working permit for France/EU. You must be enrolled in a university programme during the internship.

L'Atelier provides an inclusive and flexible environment, where people are encouraged to work together towards an ambitious goal in an environment where they can successfully express themselves. Our goal is to ensure that L'Atelier provides an open environment, where all people feel they are equally valued and respected, whether they are working for the company or applying for a role. We encourage candidates of all backgrounds, identities, ages and expressions to apply.
