Description

L'Atelier BNP Paribas is a foresight subsidiary of BNP Paribas Group that investigates and identifies new and emerging technology-related market opportunities and challenges through research, analysis, and exploratory fiction. Our primary focus is on research and analysis within virtual and digital domains.

We are looking for a Research Intern (paid) to join us part- or full-time for a minimum of 6 months. He/she will support our Digital Anthropology team with quantitative and qualitative research; data collection, cleaning, processing and analysis; fact-checking, and other research needs. This intelligence will enable our senior analysts to select high-potential domains for further investigation to anticipate new needs and opportunities, and deliver insight and foresight on the social and cultural implications of emerging technologies.

Throughout the internship, you will learn about digital anthropology, develop an understanding of foresight methodologies, and participate in the development of proprietary IP and data tools. Typical assignments may include researching for and fact-checking content developed by the team; review for active research projects (e.g., anthropology, sociology, geography, economics, etc.); social listening/digital ethnography (e.g., monitoring social media, forums, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Extract and synthesise ongoing research, and track relevant trends and developments across virtual and digital domains
  • Support our team and/or external partners to validate model(s) and to occasionally build/prototype model(s) or internal data intelligence tools
  • Track, manage, update and analyse L’Atelier’s existing databases
  • Gather, process and analyse data from external data sources
  • Conduct interviews and surveys with relevant users
  • Prepare internal documentation and fact-checking to support the team’s content pipeline and events

What You Should Have:

  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research and analysis in social science. Experience in data collection and processing is strongly preferred
  • Understanding of and a demonstrable interest in virtual domains and communities. Background or interest in gaming, virtual worlds, esports and Internet cultures is highly preferred
  • Attention to detail and an entrepreneurial approach to identifying sources of information
  • Ideally, 1 year of relevant experience or a completed internship in a similar organisation
  • Fluency in English and ideally French. Additional language skills are a plus
  • Technical / coding skills are a plus
  • Appropriate working permit for France/EU. You must be enrolled in a university programme during the internship.

Our goal is to ensure that L'Atelier provides an open environment, where all people feel they are equally valued and respected, whether they are working for the company or applying for a role.
